Save your money and get a Voltex or APR widebody kit. A custom job like that will not be cheap, and you will have one hell of a time trying to get replacement parts when some one hits your car. Plus, at least you know the APR and Voltex kit are wind-tunnel tested and race proven.

I do know of some old timers whom used to "knock" mudguard in the 80s. They are one bunch of creative people whom can almost change the outlook of your car (to look like another brand of make and model). After the LTA clamp down on illegal mods, most of them have retired or are into other jobs.
