bros, anyone on JIC coilovers?

im currently on JIC coilovers, and its very noisy! it seems to have a very loud knocking sound coming from the front. ive consulted my workshop and they told me its my pillow mount. however what puzzles me is that after i tighten the preload, the sound seems to be gone for awhile. then it comes back again.
im wondering is it still the pillow mount or is it normal for JIC coilovers to have that particular knocking sound?

any bros out there sharing the same problems as well?

advices needed! thanks! (=

Knocking sound on aftermarket pillow mount is very common among aftermarket suspension. No point and no way getting it fixed coz it comes back after awhile. However, there are still some brands that eliminates the knocking sound totally.

Hey there...

If you do find the sound really disturbing and abnormal, maybe you should return to the workshop who did the installation for you. It maybe a case of installation issues, or just wear and tear (depending on your driving habits etc.)

Wear and tear issues are generally visually obvious, such as signs of pillow-mount bearing loosening or signs of wear on cushioning washer that's supporting the coil-springs etc.

I had my JIC-RS greased and adjusted by my car mechanics before they are installed into the car. It's been 8 months and 2 rounds of track day... so far so good...

Hope you can get your problem sorted soon :o

Get the workshop to clean up the setup and tighten the springs. Noise will go away.

The noise seems to go away when you tighten the spring but it would be back in aweek or so...

Can DIY just use water jet to spray the dampers give it a good rinse... loosen the dirt off it... if no more sound then safe to say just too much dirt on coilovers, can then take the next step... next time bring to mechanic, make sure top and bottom of springs have some kinda washers and a cover / rubber sock over the rod... I think any decent mechanic can do it... its actually common problem on most coilovers.... often debated and never resolved!... I had issues like that before... one of those problems like running LSD klank klank klank... Race brake pads squeak squeak squeak... racing plate clutches clunk clunk clunk?... hahahaha... make our rides sound bad!.. hahaha.. but before u jump out and get new dampers...Think no one will guarantee NOISELESS... so its worth while to give this try... nothing much to lose if u prepared to try to SELL it off at a big loss and SPEND another $2.5-4k on other brands. Worth a try...

The workshop that installed mine doesn't seem to be in operation anymore...went past the area a few months back and the shop has been taken over by another workshop...
