MRT hopped onto the bandwagon of talks about the Evo XI going hybrid...

and for the 1st time I sat up and paid some serious attention....will it come true?

Read it yourself and see if it sounds plausible:

Sounds like this is true! Cos it's on Wikipedia now!! :P

"On the first quarter of 2010, Mitsubishi has announced the successor to the Evolution X, the Evolution XI which shall be released on 2013. The Evolution XI shall be built on the same platform as Mitsubishi's hybrid concept, the PX-MiEV. The Evolution XI will also benefit from Mitsubishi's latest hybrid technology, and the turbochargers shall be replaced with electric motors, which shall be an upgraded version of the 63 hp unit used on the i-MiEV, driving the front wheels. Meanwhile, the 2.0L MIVEC engine shall drive the rear wheels, which shall be tuned to generate around 320 hp. With both the electric and engine power combined, the Evolution XI shall have a power output of around 350 hp, and could propel the car from 0 to 60 mph at around 4.5 seconds."

Interesting in that the turbocharger is gone and in its place electric motors. I suppose there'll be a whole new dimension to tuning Evos when this hybrid Evo comes on the market!
